Hi Martin.

This is just a follow up from my unscheduled meeting with Gary earlier today.

Having struggled through the week in agony due to suffering with achilles tendonitis,
the timing of this meeting was totally
ill-conceived. I totally understand Gary not seeing my pain and discomfort, as he has not once asked me why I was struggling to walk this whole week.

I also understand everyone is going through tough times as am I, but to shut us in the boardroom and accuse me of being distracted by private work and using my phone for this, is totally absurd.
It seemed quite discriminative to only have me in for a meeting, when clearly everyone uses there phone.
Then for him to get over excited and swearing about what he described as 'workshop Chinese whispers' made me feel uneasy.
I feel a HR representative should of been present, if this was  a disciplinary matter.

I may have been on my phone over the past few weeks due to my mother in-law having been in hospital.
She is now recovering at home after having major surgery to remove pancreatic cancer.
With my wife juggling caring for her mother, our children and working it has led me to use my phone to sort childcare out to take the pressure off my wife.

I feel if there was a more positive environment for discussions, this situation would have been avoided.

If there is an issue with my productivity, I am happy to discuss this with you and an HR representative at the next available opportunity.

Many thanks
James.
